Sunday Morning Beauty
Hey You - Looking Good
Forget the hype, I want to know what beauty products work for you and what you would say for us all to try:
Eau Thermale Avene XeraCalm Replenishing Balm is created for people suffering with sensitive skin or prone to eczema. My Mother who suffers with sensitive skin raves over this product and says that it really works for her. Mum is not alone, in trials carried out by Avene 100% eczema sufferers said that the dryness of their skin was improved.
Avene first began in 1743 in the South of France, in the village it is named after, when the Marquis of Rocozels built the first thermal spring facility on his land for patients suffering from skin diseases and burns. In 1871, the spring water was sent to the USA to aid victims from the Great Fire of Chicago.
ELEMIS SOOTHING APRICOT TONER
My Sister is a fan of Elemis products and I have to say thanks to her I am also a convert. The product that Steph raves over is the Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner . With a faint apricot smell which leaves the skin feeling hydrated, it is great for sensitive skins. It can also be used as a soothing eye treatment when soaked on cotton pads.
BOBBIE BROWN CONCEALER & CORRECTOR
Bobbie Brown |
This product has been called the "wake-up call for tired eyes". Recommended by Bernice and many others who say that this is their "can't live without product". The concealer and corrector used together brightens the appearance of the eyes and is great for hiding dark circles.
Shirt Dresses
On my wish list this year is a Shirt Dress. These dresses were first known as "shirtwaist dresses" and were launched by Christian Dior in the 1950s as part of the "New Look" collection. They featured a notched collar, elbow length sleeves with a full skirt held up by wearing a crinoline.
Today's Shirt Dress are more relaxed but look great both at work or weekend wear.

Today I visited LouLou's Vintage Fair at Bournemouth Pavilion (greatly attended I have to say) and came across a stall selling this hand cream. Drawn to the retro packaging, I thought I would give it a test. Initially I found the rose smelling gel quite strong but the smell quickly subsides to leave your hands silky smooth. It's definitely worth a try and at £11 it's a steal.
Magic Retouch
The colour stays in until you next wash your hair and can be used up to 30 times. At £8.99 - I think that's a bit of a bargain.
MAC Whirl
The Daughter treated herself to a new MAC lipstick called Whirl and is just loving the colour.
Shorts for Older Women
With thoughts turning to holidays, certainly are in our house, one summer outfit worth considering is the summer shorts. Leaving the wearing of Daisy Dukes to the youngsters doesn't mean that we cannot have fun either:
Marks & Spencers £25
Cropped Palazzo Trousers - Mango
Abstract Print Shorts - Dsquared2
High Waisted Shorts - Pinup Girl Clothing
Urban Touch pleated shorts £42.00
The Return of the Choker
The simple choker seems to dip in and out of fashion history going back to when it was worn by the very rich in the 18th and 19th century. This year it was seen on a number of catwalks for the fall collections and has been worn by the likes of Rihanna and Lily-Rose Depp.
Lauren Bacall - 1948
Grace Kelly - 1956 |
Ali McGraw
Prince Diana - 1996 |
Salma Hayek |
Jennifer Lawrence |
Dita |
Kate Moss |
Rihanna |

AVENE
Yesterday I popped into our local pharmacy and had a skin test. Just lately, it has looked grey and been rather spotty. I know some of this may be due to hormones but thought I would see what the results said.
Interestingly, apparently I have a rather rare condition whereby my skin is oily but at the same time dehydrated. With that in mind, I have bought the Avene Hydrance Riche Moisturiser and their Micellar Cleanser. I am to go back in 8 weeks to see if there is any changes to it's condition. Watch this space.
ALTERNA LUXURY HAIR PRODUCTS
Last week, my Sister, was raving how good Alterna hair products were and gave me samples of their Bamboo Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Bamboo UV Vibrant Colour Conditioner to try. Alterna have been in business since 1997 and use natural ingredients such as caviar, bamboo, seasilk.
Yesterday, I gave them ago and have to say I have been very impressed. My hair has been dyed lighter at the ends and can have a tendency to frizz but these products left my hair looking silky and frizz-free. I shall definitely be investing in these items and at HQHair, they have money off these at the moment.
High Waisted Bikini
My friend is off on her hols shortly and has bought this high-waisted retro bikini. Love the floral pattern and looks very flattering on.
Italian Sandals
Check out my new Italian sandals from Bellissimo - the leather is so soft. Just perfect for sunny days.
Happy 2017 to you all - what is your beauty resolution for this coming year? Mine, is to look after my nails. For New Year's Eve I went for rather a gaudy gold glitter which was perfect for the night. However, having acquired various bottles from My Daughter I intend to experiment this coming year.
pininterest
Mine would be Elemis Apricot Toner. Steph
ReplyDeleteI love Bobbie Brown concealer and corrector, for under your eyes. Also helps to hydrate so multi purpose.
